Be a human.

We are hailed as superheroes to justify treating us as robots.
Acting “human” is practically an insult, because it suggests that we made a mistake or weren’t efficient enough. We are taught to ignore our innate drives for hunger, sleep, and urination.
Some attendings elevate the denial of human needs further, claiming that the definition of professionalism mandates doing so. Of course the Declaration of Human Rights defines these drives as basic rights to which all are entitled.
It should be no surprise then, that trainee working conditions lead to moral (and personal) injury.
Sarabelle Lee is committed to improving the lives of trainees through evidence based goods & services.
